Supercross Cup Round 4 Results
The final round of the 2009 Supercross cup took place today in a windy Corcaigh Park in Dublin today. From the start it was set to be the biggest cross race in Irish history with top riders Robin Seymour, Conner McConvey and Roger Aiken going head to head for the first time. From the gun the pace was incredible but the testing course in Corcaigh was going to separate the men from the boys. After the first lap a trio had formed at the front with McConvey and Seymour joined by Joe McCall setting the pace and throwing it down to the rest of the field. McConvey was the man to beat from the start with numerous attacks over the opening laps until he finally got away. His lead on lap three was 11 seconds stretching to 15 seconds on the 4th and 25 seconds on the fifth. The newly signed rider who will be riding for the Belgian based An Post road team next year look very comfortable out front. Behind, Seymour and McCall were chasing hard but loosing valuable seconds on each lap. Ryan Sherlock and Roger Aiken were battling for 4th place with the next trio of Evan Ryan, Neil Delahaye and Lewis Ferguson fighting for sixth place. Closing out the top ten there was a race long battle between Aidan McDonald, Peter McConville and Gareth Gormley with the final results coming down to the wire on the last lap.
Up front McConvey crossed the line the clear winner after just over one hour and six minutes of racing with multiple Irish Cross champion Robin Seymour one minute thirty two seconds back. There was exciting stuff back in third place with Sherlock catching and overtaking McCall on the final tarmac section but a mechanical on Sherlock's bike let McCall back into third in the final section giving him the final spot on the podium. With Sherlock in 4th last weeks winner Roger Aiken rolled in to take 5th place. Team-WORC rider Evan ryan managed a strong finish to hold off a charging Neil Delahaye who took seventh place. Lewis Ferguson took 8th place and first Vet on the day Peter McConville took a fantastic 9th place finishing first out of the trio who had batteled for the entire race with Aidan McDonal taking 10th and Garth Gormley finishing 11th.
In the women's event it was the ever dedicated and consistent Francine Meehan taking first place and also finishing 26th overall on the day with William Boyd the first Junior across the line finishing in 25st place.
Overall it was Roger Aiken taking the title of 2009 Supercross Cup champion with two wins and a second securing him the league title. First overall in the Vets category was Peter McConville with Francine Meehan taking the womens's title and young XMTB rider William Boyd taking the Junior title.
A big thanks to our sponsor FD K Capital Source, a long standing supporter of everything offroad in Ireland once again helping to make these races possible. Thanks also to Cycleways for support on the day and to all the clubs who held rounds this year, Apollo CT, IMBRC, Newry Wheelers and MAD who have once again helped increase the standard of cyclocross in Ireland.

Supercross Cup Round 3 results
What a race today...... lots of moves in the first few laps..Conor and Roger then got away but only to be to be rejoined by the chasing group a few lap laster as they played cat and mouse. In the end it was the Dodger with the stronger finish who cross the line to take victory in round 3 of the Supercross Cup..... with McConvey taking 2nd place.... Behind them an almighty battle was taking place but 3rd place went to Ryan Sherlock and a sprint finish gave fourth place to Evan Ryan very closely followed by Joe McCall rounding up the top five.
The final round takes place next week in Dublin and should see riders giving it their all to try and move up and move into the final overall placings in the 2009 Supercross Cup....
